did anyone give Pale Moon a big cheque just "to get out of the way"? When all reasonable explanations fail you start imagining the crazy things. Why did they stop supporting MacOS? A fork (White Star) proves that it is perfectly possible! It is a great forked and updated version of Pale Moon for Mac. If they want to allow the dysfunctional big bully to keep on "smashing the china shop" the whole project will go to pieces. Moonchild is ok and Athenian is a wonderful person. They are good software engineers but terrible "people people".įind an even tempered forum moderator. The devs should be focusing on the "next gen" iteration, even if it takes time, and not wasting time ranting on the forum. The devs built a very refined browser that runs great, then in the difficult transition to webextensions pressure started mounting until all hell broke loose. It happens very rarely (at least to me) And when it does I simply use another browser. The PM "can't handle this or that" thing is grossly overdone. Why are they intent in killing their own creation? It is (was?) the best browser for ageing Macs. It is the BEST behaved one of the lot (I have tried them ALL). Pale Moon handles many dozens of open tabs smoothly and without batting an eyelash and with very little system memory. Super fun stuff, and it doesn't need a browser at all. In other news, have you heard of Flashpoint? It's a Flash preservation project to archive tons of Flash games and movies (well the movies go into Newgrounds Auditorium but its made by the same guys and has the same interface). I'm not expecting them to stoop to helping granny on her first tele-computaterino here, but non-programmers still use browsers! I understand, this is sort of a "help me help you" situation, but it seems like the technical expertise that is expected of you on the forums is pretty high. Like- is that something people usually think about when they look for addons? Most people just look for something with a functionality, and then they click the "install" button, and then that's it. I consider myself a reasonably techy person, but I have never once heard that terminology used to describe a browser technology in my entire life.įinding out whether or not your addons use jetpack require you to pry open the addon's files and look for certain things yourself. Thanks guys, very coolĪnyways, in that forum thread, Tobin got real mad because he expected everyone to find out if their add-ons are jetpack or not. I was only on the forums today to find out why I couldn't install extensions anymore, and it turns out it's because dev team went out of their way to block out anyone holding back from updating because of said addonpocalypse. I saw this thread on the forums today where Tobin asked people to list the extensions they want forked for the addonpocalypse. and the add-on bar at the bottom, I'm so used to browsers having something at the bottom that not having it there just feels naked Meanwhile, I'm just here trying to avoid getting a hand cramp. It's sorta weird to see how stuck-up and toxic the Pale moon space can be sometimes, there's so much weird drama involving this obscure web browser no one's heard of, the furry porn artist, and the playground bully on the forums. Meanwhile, Chrome doesn't even have a search? This entire thing is just changed entirely by whether or not clicking on the icon starts your search. Since I need to click on the search bar to type a query, I may as well also click on the search engine to use while I'm already there. The way Pale Moon handles this is a lot better. Well, actually, I guess I could press up a few times after I've finished typing the query, but that would involve me taking my hand off the mouse. The reason this is a problem is because its not ergonomic - I can either take my hand off the mouse to type out my search query, then put my hand back on the mouse - or I have to reach across the keyboard to type one-handed. When you click into their search bar, it shows some icons for search engines you have added, and clicking on the icon then sends your search off to that search engine. After having yet another "this site function works in the other browsers people actually use but not this weird niche one nobody's heard of" I actually started considering switching back to Firefoxīut the way they handle their search bar now is strange, it's one minor change that throws everything off.
